LGBT Campus LifeMembers of the HBS LGBT Student Association organize all sorts of educational, professional, and social events. Here is a sampling of recent events in Boston and further afield. National Coming Out DayEach October, on National Coming Out Day, we hand out rainbow ribbons to all students on campus. We are always thrilled to see a huge number of straight allies wearing these ribons throughout the day to show their support! For more information on this event at HBS, go here! Recruiting DinnersWe mingle, drink, and eat with LGBT representatives from many companies who are looking to hire LGBT students. This includes most of our current sponsors and other top firms from consulting, financial services, and industry. Socials and RetreatsThe group gets together for some pretty informal social events several times per month, sometimes with Section Q straight allies. Each year we also have 2 or 3 weekend retreats, including Provincetown or skiing in Vermont. These are great opportunities to get to know each other better, and just have a great time. Partners are often joining in! Speakers and Educational ProgramsWe organize and host speakers and other educational events at HBS around LGBT diversity in the workplace. Speakers have ranged from the former CFO of Ford Motor Company to the President of LOGO TV. In the last few years, at least 3 additional LGBT cases have been added to the HBS curriculum, and our first-year LGBT students put on LGBT-educational presentations for their sections. Prospective Student EventsWe work with HBS MBA Admissions to support LGBT applicants and admitted students in numerous ways. We attend or host receptions and Q&A sessions for prospective applicants in several major cities each summer. We help organize an LGBT Open House, also in Boston, welcoming prospective students to campus for a full day of immersion in the HBS experience. To see what's currently planned, go to the Admissions Office's LGBT events page. Admitted Student EventsWe host dinners and drinks for admitted LGBT students during the two Admitted Student Weekends in Boston each spring. Reaching Out MBA ConferenceMany HBS students attend this popular LGBT MBA conference, which takes place every fall and draws more than 600 attendees from around the world. HBS organized and hosted the first-ever conference in 1999, and again in 2005. Grad Student LGBT CommunityWe are friendly with the queer crowds at Harvard Law School, the Kennedy School, other Harvard grad schools, and MIT/Sloan, for instance. We often have joint social events with them. Other Fun StuffMost of our events are just informal, impromptu dinners, happy hours, nights out, working out, and whatever else comes up!
