LGBT Campus Life
Members of the HBS LGBT Student Association organize all sorts of educational, professional, and social events. Here is a sampling of recent events in Boston and further afield.
National Coming Out Day
Each October, on National Coming Out Day, we hand out rainbow ribbons to all students on campus. We are always thrilled to see a huge number of straight allies wearing these ribons throughout the day to show their support!

Recruiting Dinners
We mingle, drink, and eat with LGBT representatives from many companies who want to hire us. This includes most of our current sponsors and other top firms from consulting, financial services, and industry. (They pick up the tab!)
Weekend Retreats
Every semester we have a weekend retreat. These are great opportunities to get to know each other better, discuss "serious issues," and just have a great time. Partners always join us!
Speakers and Educational Events
We organize and host speakers and other educational events at HBS around LGBT diversity in the workplace. For instance, in the recent past, we hosted Allan Gilmour, the retired Vice Chairman and Chief Finance Officer of Ford Motor Company, who spoke on coming out at Ford.
Prospective Student Events
We work with HBS MBA Admissions to support LGBT applicants and admitted students in numerous ways. We attend or host receptions and Q&A sessions for prospective applicants in several major cities each summer. We help organize an LGBT Open House, also in Boston, welcoming prospective students to campus for a full day of immersion in the HBS experience.

Admitted Student Events
We host dinners and drinks for admitted LGBT students during the two Admitted Student Weekends in Boston each spring.
Reaching Out MBA Conference
Many HBS students attend this hugely popular LGBT MBA conference, which takes place every fall in a different city and draws more than 600 attendees from around the world. HBS organized and hosted the first-ever conference in 1999, and again in 2005.
Grad Student LGBT Community
We are friendly with the queer crowds at Harvard Law School, the Kennedy School, other Harvard grad schools, and MIT/Sloan, for instance. We often have joint social events with them.
Gay Treks
We go to the beach! Throughout the year, we plan trips to fun (and warm) places like Miami Beach during spring break or long weekends. Gay resorts nearby include Provincetown and Ogunquit.
Other Fun Stuff
Most of our events are just informal, impromptu dinners, happy hours, nights at the clubs, excursions to P-town, group abs classes at the gym (this is only partially facetious), and whatever else comes up!
