Harvard Business School
Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Fellowship
Alumni, faculty, staff, supporters and current students of
Harvard
Business School have initiated a $250,000 fundraising campaign to
establish the HBS LGBT Fellowship at Harvard Business School. This
endowment will be one of the first if its kind at any business school
and will send a powerful message about inclusion and community at HBS.
The LGBT Fellowship will attract top LGBT students and encourage them
to be out and open about their sexual orientation and/or gender
identity, while at the same time help to reconnect alumni with the
school and send a message to administrators that alumni support their
diversity efforts.
Each year, the LGBT Fellowship will be used to provide
financial assistance to deserving MBA students in accordance with the
financial aid policies of the School. Diversity among the student body
is a foundation for the HBS experience - both inside and outside of the
classroom - and sexual orientation and gender identity are significant
contributors to the diversity at HBS. Preference will be given to LGBT
Student Association members.
This organization is open to all students at HBS and
subscribes to the following mission: to foster a positive environment
and build a professional network for club members by increasing LGBT
visibility, educating peers and colleagues, and raising awareness of
LGBT issues at HBS and in the broader business world.
Fellowships are a key priority at HBS because they ensure that
the School attracts and enrolls the most talented students, regardless
of their financial circumstances. The resulting endowment will enable
HBS to attract top LGBT students to HBS and to encourage students to be
out and open about their sexual orientation and gender identity while
at HBS.
